UTILITY SALES EXECUTIVE

Reports to: Vice-President, Sales & Marketing
Location: MASSACHUSETTS, USA

Position Summary:

The Utility Sales Executive will have a proven sales track record in the public and private utility industry including the wind and solar renewable markets. He/She must have the ability to penetrate accounts at whatever level necessary to generate results. This individual must have the ability to create and maintain professional relationships at every level of business and government. This candidate must be a seasoned communicator and have a proven track record at generating new and repeat business in the utility and renewable industry where long and complicated sales cycle are the norm.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Uncover opportunities at all levels of the utility and power industry by various means such as research, cold calling, building new and leveraging existing relationships
  • Identify key opportunities within the utility industry including peak shaving, load shifting, standby, line support, and asset deferral markets and then write and submit proposals to facilitate new technology adoption within the host utilities
  • Work closely with the utility industry to understand their business and then be able to clearly articulate a value proposition in concert with the customer's requirements
  • Build strong, lasting relationships at appropriate levels of the client organizations
  • Define and develop strategic account plans
  • Work with senior management to develop technical presentations, sales and marketing collateral specifically tailored to the utility industry
  • Act as trusted advisor and consultant to our client base
  • Anticipate and identify new business needs; develop recommendations and solutions
  • Attendance of industry related trade shows, seminars and conferences
  • Generate incremental revenue according to specific targets
Candidate Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent degree
  • 5-10 years technical sales experience, with at least 5 years experience calling into public and private utility accounts
  • Proven ability to build relationships and effectively sell to senior executives within the utility industry
  • Considered an expert (+5 years) with AC or DC back-up power technologies and systems
  • Has a strong business acumen in planning and organization
  • Exhibits excellent cold-calling, prospecting, presentation, communication and proposal writing skills
  • Has demonstrable experience in project management
  • Start-up experience and/or new technology launch experience a plus
Position Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Fluent in English
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • Report to North Andover, MA
  • 20 to 40% travel
