GOVERNMENT SALES ACCOUNT MANAGER

Reports to
: Vice-President, Sales & Marketing
Location: North Andover, MA, USA

Position Summary:

This position has direct responsibility for the sale of products and services to large accounts, primarily in the government demonstration, DOE/DOD grant industry. Qualified candidates will be highly experienced in new account business development, shall have a strong working knowledge of AC and DC power systems, batteries, communications network components, power infrastructure and electronics. Candidate must have experience seeking out, applying for and successfully winning government demonstration funding for new technologies.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Uncover opportunities at all levels of government and the public sector by various means such as research, cold calling, building new relationships, leveraging existing relationships, and monitoring grant/demonstration opportunities
  • Identify key opportunities within DOE/DOD and then write and submit solicited and unsolicited proposals designed to facilitate new technology adoption within State and Federal agencies
  • Build strong, lasting relationships at appropriate levels of the client organization
  • Define and develop strategic account plans
  • Work with senior management to develop technical presentations, sales and marketing collateral specifically tailored to the public sector
  • Act as trusted advisor and consultant to our state and federal clients
  • Identify new market and sales opportunities within the public sector
  • Anticipate and identify new business needs; develop recommendations and solutions
  • Attendance of industry related trade shows, seminars and conferences
  • Generate incremental revenue according to specific targets
Candidate Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience writing grants for and successfully winning government-funded technology demonstration projects
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent degree
  • 5-10 years technical sales experience calling on public sector accounts
  • Understanding of federal and state decision-making and acquisition processes
  • Proven ability to build relationships and effectively sell to all levels of government
  • Strong working knowledge of the electric utility and telecom industry
  • Is considered an expert (+5 years) with AC or DC back-up power technologies and systems
  • Has a strong business acumen in planning and organization
  • Exhibits excellent cold-calling, prospecting, presentation, communication and proposal writing skills
  • Has demonstrable experience in project management
  • Start-up experience and/or new technology launch experience a plus
Position Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Fluent in English
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • 20 to 40% travel
